Gumamela Flower





Scientific name: Hibiscuss rosa-sinensis Linn
Tagalog: Gumamela
English: China rose, Hibiscus

Gumamela is cultivated as an ornamental flower throughout the Philippines. Gumamela flowers are used as an expectorant in bronchitis, for general coughs, as a refrigerant drink in fevers, medicinal used and for use in soaps and shampoos. It can come in a multitude of colors, such as purple, orange and pink. Gumamela has been used for centuries to treat skin ailments. The flower consists of 5 petals that form a bell shape.
